All Of The Above presents
The Jazz Locavores
Why go further afield when the locally grown diet has 3 Michelin stars? To stimulate WSC’s musical tastebuds for a second time after a long lockdown, it’s the return of the band that thinks global and acts local. The dictionary says a locavore is a “person whose diet consists of locally grown and produced food”. Conceived by Iain Ballamy during the 2020 lockdown as a pro-active positive antidote to the stifling effect of Covid-19 and travel restrictions on musicians, The Jazz Locavores – now a quartet with guitarist Martin Kolarides – was formed with fellow internationally renowned musicians - all local Somerset residents - to capitalise on staying at home but making great music with brilliant friends. Iain Ballamy is one of Europe’s most celebrated saxophonists and composers with a unique sound and remarkably wide-ranging appeal. Henrik Jensen moved from Denmark to the UK to continue his career as one of Europe’s most sought-after bass players. Mark Whitlam has rapidly become AOTA’s in-demand drummer and new Locavore Martin Kolarides’ jazz talent is infused with his experience in blues and rock.Featuring: Iain Ballamy (saxophones)Martin Kolarides (guitar)Henrik Jensen (double bass)and Mark Whitlam (drums)
